To record for ( Evp) Electric voice phenomena in investigations or recording in your own home we use Digital Voice Recorders, Microcasette corder. Record for no more than five minutes, any longer will take a long while to analyse and can be very tedious. You can ask questions but give a patch of silence for them to answer. Always record where it is quiet, you will soon train your ear to differenciate between human voice and Evp. Relax, meditate, use protection thats just our personal preference. On each recording say where you are, what room ?, and make a note of the conditions, time, weather, temperature etc
There are a number of different programmes to edit your recording with, Wavepad, Clear voice denoiser, Adobe, Acoustica are but a few to mention. Some programmes out there can be very exspensive some do have a free trial period, do try them before you buy. Some of these programmes can look a little daunting, but have a go with what ever you feel comfortable with. Remember less is best when editing.
When recording for a loved one, try to record at the same time everyday. You may want to light a candle have a picture of them so you can concentrate and connect with them. Try to relax, maybe meditate to relax yourself. Say a prayer for them to come and speak. Use protection by saying a prayer whatever your religion may be.When you are ready take a deep breath and record. I have also found that by talking about our loved ones can sometimes help while recording, or record as you are busy going about the house etc.
